This is the debut from this Chicago area based singer/guitarist. J.B. cuts his way through ten covers and two originals. Many of the covers on this disk like 'Shake Your Money Maker,' 'Howlin For My Darlin,' and 'Little Red Rooster' have been overdone on many recordings. What J.B. has done here is taken these well used classics and recycled them utilizing his savory guitar licks. J.B. plays a Stratocaster guitar on half the tracks, then breaks out the older Telecaster for some excellent slide work on the other tracks. Ritchie's vocals are deep and more suitable on this recording, but his slide guitar is the real eye-opener here. Key Tracks include 'Rocket 88'; 'She's Nineteen Years Old', 'Trouble No More' (his best slide work) and the bluesy original called 'You Don't Gotta~. This recording may be short on originality, but more than makes up for it with tantalizing blues-rock guitar play and solid delivery. SOUND = Very Good PERFORMANCE = Very Good
